Do you have to pull the shaft for replacing stern tube seals?
This is not always necessary.
If the shaft is drawn because the liners or bearings need to be replaced, then the seals can be placed directly in the housing.
In this situation, this is done in a dry dock.
We can also replace the seals by bonding while the shaft stays in place. This can be done in dry dock or afloat.
In good conditions, we can replace the FWD and AFT in 3-4 days by bonding.
