In addition, we also supply chrome steel liners for all standard systems. Our chrome steel liners are compatible with a range of Kobelco and Kemel seal systems, including:
We manufacture these liners from high-grade duplex stainless steel—commonly referred to as chrome steel liners in the marine industry. As a result, they deliver exceptional strength and corrosion resistance, even in the most demanding marine environments. In fact, this material ensures long service life and significantly reduces maintenance requirements over time. To begin with, we finish-machine the OD to standard design, providing a precise base for integration. To meet your vessel’s exact specifications, the customer then completes any additional machining. Altogether, this approach offers maximum durability, full system compatibility, and performance you can rely on.

No, removing the propeller shaft is not required to replace Kemel stern tube seals in most situations.
Using advanced bonding techniques, our service engineers can efficiently replace both the forward and aft Kemel (or Kobelco) seals without removing the shaft. We can perform this service either afloat or in dry dock, and under normal conditions, we complete the job in just three to four days.
What does this mean for you?
Reduced downtime – Your vessel stays in service longer.
Lower maintenance costs – You avoid the labor and expense of shaft removal.
Flexible scheduling – We can carry out the work while the vessel is afloat, minimizing disruption.
If your vessel requires additional work—such as replacing chrome steel liners or stern tube bearings—then removing the propeller shaft becomes essential to access and complete those components properly. In such cases, it’s best to coordinate all necessary maintenance during a scheduled dry dock.
To summarize:
For standard seal replacement, our bonding method saves you time and money.
For major overhauls, shaft removal during dry dock may be more efficient.
Let us help you choose the best approach based on your vessel’s condition and schedule.
